The Oscars aka the gay man's SuperBowl... Thoughts?
Well, the Writer's Strike is over. And just in time, too. In honor of the Oscars this Sunday, I thought I would ask for some good 'ol fashioned help from my friends.
Some may say I have a gambling problem (and to that I say, it ain't over until the rent money's gone), but after my dismal numbers in boxes for the SuperBowl, I've entered yet another pool for the Oscars, run by one of my coworkers. What can I say—I cannot resist the words "WINNER TAKE ALL."
So... having only seen a few movies, I put my guesses in bold, but I need your guys' expertise. Did anyone see Clooney's Michael Clayton? Or—dare I ask—Atonement/Enchanted? Or even lesser-known films like Driving Bell & the Butterfly or La Vie en Rose?
Let me know what you think!
BEST PICTURE
Atonement
Juno
Michael Clayton
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood
Given that Best Picture and Best Director usually go hand-in-hand, my guess is...
BEST DIRECTOR
Julian Schnabel (Driving Bell & the Butterfly)
Jason Reitman (Juno)
Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton)
Coen Bros. (No Country)
Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood)
BEST ACTOR
Danny Day Lewis has this on lockdown. Anyone disagree?
BEST ACTRESS
The ones that have a shot:
Julie Christie
Marion Cotillard
Ellen Page
SUPPORTING ACTOR
Casey Affleck
Javier Bardem
Tom Wilkinson
SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Ruby Dee
Cate Blanchett
Tilda Swinton
Amy Ryan
DOCUMENTARY FEATURE
Based off the idea that no one wants Michael Moore on stage:
Sicko
No End in Sight
ORIGINAL SONG
Falling Slowly (Once)
That's How You Know (Enchanted)
This is about:
films,
gambling problem,
Itdontmattertojess,
movies,
oscars,
phallic-shaped gold statues

What, no love for Ben Affleck's brother?
I'm not sure. Did you see that movie? I didn't. But I heard he was okay. I just can't get past the fact that he's only getting work because of his big bro. How bout them apples???
What are your predictions, Duderino???
1. I haven't seen any of these movies, unfortch. My strict regimen of working 9-5 and going to school 6-9 has severely inhibited my ability to screen films. Plus I have no desire to see whatever it was that asshole (Casey Affleck) was in...just trying to be humorous.
2. My prediction is that I will drink more beers and sing more songs at Karaoke on Saturday night than you, Jen Hare and Lindsey combined. Also - Philip Seymour Hoffman for Best Supporting Actor.
That is all at this time. You can give me the $5 for this advice later.
can you download the grammys? id rather steal them online then watch them for free on tv.
piracy is not the answer my young friend. you still have much to learn.
